An opinion poll released yesterday suggested that Conservative leader David Cameron has a lead over Gordon Brown and that voting intentions could be affected.
The headlines seem shocking but as the detail revealed, it was difficult to make comparisons.
Cameron is leader of his party. Gordon Brown is not yet leader. And moreover, we are in mid term. The polls will, I imagine, look very different when Gordon is in Number 10. For now, there is no need to panic - we in Labour need to hold our nerve, revisit our values, and listen to people as we seek to renew in government (picture shows a Lambeth Let's Talk event held last year with Gordon Brown and Val Shawcross chatting with my group).
