I'd say the atmosphere was enthusiastic and businesslike. It felt as if the Party was ready for the next phase and serious about continuing to meet the challenges of being a progressive party in government.
The Fabian seminar beforehand on winning a fourth term was encouraging too, with some good contributions. My only concerns, which I expressed at the meeting, were that in the Party we can sometimes take the economy for granted and we do not always pay enough attention to the language we use and the way we frame our debates.
This is going to be an exciting week as we see the changes put into effect as Gordon Brown becomes Prime Minister on Wednesday.
